Art Flanagan has extensive experience in the property and casualty insurance field. He has marketed and serviced insurance programs for companies in the chemical, manufacturing, oil well services, marine, transportation, service contractor, petroleum, technology and other industries.

Mr. Flanagan joined Wm. Rigg Co. in 1996, bringing to the Company more than 15 years of insurance industry experience. He is a shareholder of the Rigg Group’s privately held stock.

Mr. Flanagan began his insurance career in 1981 as a claims and finance manager for a national steamship agency. In 1985, he joined the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies where he specialized in underwriting property and marine exposures. Prior to his association with Wm. Rigg Co., Mr. Flanagan spent five years with a regional Texas broker marketing and servicing property and casualty insurance programs. He also spent five years with a worldwide insurance broker where he specialized in developing and servicing insurance programs for his clients.

Art Flanagan is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. He earned an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. In 1989, he received the John Daniel Outstanding Committee Chairman Award from the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston to recognize his outstanding work in establishing the Continuing Education Committee for the organization.

Art Flanagan served as President of the Port of Houston Propeller Club for the 1997/1998 year. He served on the Port of Houston Safety and Advisory Council and is on the Board of Directors of the Port of Houston International Seafarer's Center. In addition, he is an active member of the U.S. Gulf International Commerce Club, the International Transportation Management Association, the Greater Houston Coffee Association, and the Port of Houston and Port of Galveston Propeller Clubs.

His personal interests include fishing, golfing, softball, camping, and coaching youth sports.
